Meet Bryn Kelley

Owner of Kelley Textile Conservation LLC

Bryn is a textile conservator with experience treating textiles from around the world including but not limited to clothing, embroidery and samplers, blankets, and flags. In his work, he carefully considers each unique client’s situation as the foundation for each project.

Kelley Textile Conservation has worked with clients that range from private individuals to large institutions. While his studio space is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bryn enjoys traveling to provide conservation services as needed across the country.

Background

Bryn earned his MPhil with Merit in Textile Conservation at the University of Glasgow, in Scotland. There, he built upon a
unique background in chemistry, history, and textile arts to result in a unique perspective that balances the interdisciplinary nature of textile conservtion.

His background fostered a particular interest in the conservation of synthetic and semi-synthetic fibers that he pursued in his dissertation research, which focused on impacts of conservation-based solvent exposure on synthetic and semi-synthetic fiber fabrics.

This diverse frame of reference informs his work, in which he prioritizes preservation and follows the AIC Code of Ethics.
